First up today, we headed 20 minutes south of the City to Fremantle. Our first stop for the day was the Fremantle Markets. While they were great for fresh produce, they were pretty small and just your typical market full of shitty little nik-nax.
As we’d finished up ealrier than expected at the markets, we walked around the main street of Freo and went for an iced coffee at Benny’s Bar and Cafe. While it was too early for lunch, it did look like it would be an ideal place for a beer and a feed.
Moving on, we headed down to the foreshore to one of Tim’s favourite beer breweries – Little Creatures. We sat outside here and enjoyed a nice, cool beer each. For lunch, we drove to The Modern Eatery – a Japanese restaurant in Fremantle. Their sashimi and sushi were fresh and absolutely delicious!
Just before finishing up in Freo, we decided to check out the local beach for a quick look before heading back to Perth. As you’d expect, Fremantle Beach was another absolutely stunning stretch of sand, with beautiful turquoise water that sparkled under the summer sun.
We headed back to our apartment in the City where we had a quick nap and then made our way to The Furnace, also known as the WACA, to watch the Perth Scorchers play in the Big Bash League. We booked our tickets as soon as they came on sale so we could sit right on the boundary – and it was probably the best pair of seats in the house! Especially having Brad Hogg fielding right in front of us.
After an entertaining night of big bash cricket, we stopped by the Generous Squire on Hay Street to meet up with a friend for a quick drink. It was a really nice bar with the usual tasty beer you’d expect from the James Squire brand.
