Day 16 ~ Perth

There was a slight chill in the air this morning, as we woke to yet another day of clear blue Western Australian skies. After packing the car, we were back on the road and on our way to where it all began 16 days earlier – Perth.

It was a long and boring 6 hour drive through the Wheatbelt region, with very little to see or do between Kalgoorlie and Perth. Eventually, we made it back to the capital and headed into the City to our last hotel for the trip – the Four Points by Sheraton. This was a very flash and modern hotel that was one of the best on our trip. It had a huge comfy bed, clean bathroom, plenty of room to move, and was right in the heart of the city – we can highly recommend a stay here!

After settling in, we freshened up and headed to the gorgeous Scarborough Beach to catch up with a friend for a drink. We headed upstairs to the Scarborough Beach Bar where we smashed a few pints while looking over the sparkling turquoise waters. While the views were sensational, it becomes quite glarey and hot when the sun dips towards the horizon, so we said our goodbyes and headed up the road for dinner.

After walking up and down the Esplanade a few times, we decided to have some Mexican food from Zambrero, which we took down to a grassy area by the beach. We enjoyed our delicious feed as we watched the sun set over the Indian Ocean for the very last time on this trip.

We were absolutely exhausted from our big driving day, so after the sun had set, we devoured an ice cream and then headed back to our hotel for our final night’s sleep in WA.

DRIVING DETAILS:

  • Distance Travelled: 594km (Kalgoorlie >> Perth)
